I thought the driver was female too!
There was a female Lookout character design posted sometime after the initial comic went up - let me see if I can find it. Here is the day's posts; the image is at the bottom of the page. It's too bad it's just an afterthought.
Actually, the entire Lookouts thing is sad; the idea is something I'd like to see explored in detail, but not if it's just manly men dudeing around in the forest while the women get the short end of the stick and barely exist at all.
